I have some illustrations that I would like to copyright. I was told that I could protect (copyright) them by mailing a copy of the entire illustrations to myself via registered mail. is this correct? In Canada, you acquire copyright automatically when you create an original work or other subject matter. Nothing else needs to be done, although you can register your copyright with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Registration gives you a certificate that states you are the copyright owner.
