I would like to incorporate the word "botox" in a domain name, but see that the word appears to be copyrighted(?) Would there be a problem with using "botox" as part of my domain name?

All Answers To Questions

Answer 1

I don't think so! not without them getting their royalty i think that's the purpose or copyrighting somenthing. just try another name or move it around!

Answer 2

"Yes", there would be a problem. Note - the word "botox" would not be "copyrighted", but is a "trademark", and your use could be challenged by the owner of the "trademark". Botox® is a registered trademark of Allergan.

Answer 3

Yes. They can sue you or shut you down.

Answer 4

Yep, you can use copyrighted names as your domain. Copyright law does not protect domain names.

Answer 5

Names are NOT subject to copyright protection. See the Copyright Office circular below. http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ34.html Names, however, may be subject to trademark protection. A trademark owner can initiate a UDRP proceeding against you if you have a confusingly similar domain name.
