I find that people use pictures regardless. If the genuine owner is actively protecting his copyright, then he disables right clicking (so the picture cannot be copied and pasted elsewhere). A logo is an altogether different thing as it is the symbol of the company or organization that created it and you would need permission from the company who owns the logo to use it. There is no valid reason for using a company's logo unless you are selling their products as an authorized vendor

http://www.sxc.hu/ is my favorite site for free stock photography. Make sure to read the licensing for each picture as to not violate your agreement with the photographer or the site.

http://www.stockvault.net is a really good website for free stock photos and by the way if you have a page that has the images on with no watermark but right click disabled (in Mozilla Firefox) go to tools>page info and click the media tab look through those until you find the image you want then just click save as (I would only suggest this if you just want to use for practice or on your own computer (privately) or you could be faced with copyright issues I would just suggest going to Stockvault
