I'm trying to get a copyright for a concept of mine before I go out there and start proposing the idea to people.

An idea or a concept cannot be copyrighted. Only the form in which the idea or concept is expressed can be copyrighted. i.e. The idea or concept for a book or website cannot be copyrighted. Only the completed work can. In other words, if you go out and try to sell your idea to others, and someone decides to bypass you, steal your idea, and do it on their own, the only protection that you would have under the law, is your ability to prove in court that you were the one who first came up with the idea.
