Copyright Protection?
|
If a specific website says Copyright: 1997-2008 does that mean you can use stuff from the website because its copyright isnt for 2009 im just confused cause games on xbox are like that
All Answers To QuestionsAnswer 1
No, a copyright is a copyright! They just haven't updated the date yet for 2009! Answer 2
Yes, unless they're license as already been approved and renewed to extend they copyright term.
Before proceeding to use data from their site, ensure that their copyright license term has expired... They could have just forgot to change the date...
IN OTHER CASES, A COPYRIGHT IS A COPYRIGHT... So no matter what year, they still have the right to charge you for using their copyrighted material.
Read their sites terms and policies... There you will find your answer.. Answer 3
The rule of thumb for all copy righted material is the following:
For works created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For an anonymous work, a pseudonymous work, or a work made for hire, the copyright endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first.
You see a date and the intellectual property of that date 1977 - 2008 means the company that owns the property has protection starting from 1977 - running through 2008. Just because its 2009 does not mean that it isn’t protected material. I could be that the web master failed to update the site to reflect the New Year.
I hope that answers your question: << GO BACK to questions
