Do I need to copyright lyrics and music seperately before sending a song in for a professional demo?

I have music and I have lyrics but none combined I want to send them into a studio for their band to professionally piece them together for a demo. I want to know if I need copyrights prior to sending them in and if so would I own the entire song when it is finished by the studio and if I need to copyright it how much is it and how would I go about it?

Answer 1

I don't know how much it would cost but do it anyway. The people who are chasing their Pound of Flesh could be waiting to steal it. The Disney company stole the song called "the lion sleeps to-night", until they got caught out and were ordered to pay about $20 million in damages. Copyright them now or you could lose it.

Answer 2

You can copyright them separately or individually but I suggest going all out and getting a copyright to the lyrics music and see about getting the whole thing as one copyright protected.
