How do I turn off the copyright symbol in Excel?

Hate to bother, but I have a problem in MS Excel. Whenever I type a value which includes either a "c" or "r", Excel formats it to either the copyright symbol or registered trademark symbol... Example: try typing in 135.21(c), then enter...it will appear as 135.21(c) only the "c" becomes the copyright symbol. I know this must be a simple solution, but for the life of me, I cannot figure this one out. Help!

Answer 1

Go to Tools->Options->Spelling tab then select AutoCorrect Options. From here you'll see a check box labeled Replace text as you type. Underneath you'll see the copyright symbol. You can either choose to delete it or just uncheck the box.

Answer 2

You'll either need to format the cell or the sheet to either exact or text...that way whatever you enter is what you enter and it won't be changed.....it will prompt you that a value like 135.21(c) is an argument but it'll still leave it alone.
