How do i trademark or copyright a logo?

I made a logo and want to get it copyrighted or trade marked and i have a couple of questions 1. where can i do this? 2. what is the diffrence between copyright and trademark. 3. should it be copyrighted or trademarked? sorry for the stupid questions im new to this sort of thing

Trademarks - protect names and slogans Copywrites - protect creative works like artwork, music writing, graphics etc. You probably want your information trademark. You can trademark items in a specific font/design but a general trademark is usually better, if you can get it. Trademarks are done at the US Patent & Trademark office = www.uspto.gov Copywrites are done at the US Copywriter office = www.copywrite.gov You can search at www.uspto.gov to see if your trademark is currently taken. - trademarks are for specific things = McDonald's food is obviously taken but you could potentially be McDonald's Aerospace - trademarks are also based on how words sound = for example: Real, Reel (films) and Reel (fishing) are all considered the same word when it comes to trademarks - so if Real Food is taken, Reel Food is not available.
