If I put up a pic on FLICKR that someone copyrighted, can I get in trouble if I cut the copyright logo?

I just want to crop out the COPYRIGHT logo. Its not an offensive picture. I just don't want to get in trouble over it.

Answer 1

as long you give credit in text or something, that's fine.

Answer 2

It is still copyrighted no matter what you do to it. The copyright on there is a notice. I notifies you that it is copyrighted and you have no rights to use it without permission of the owner .... PERIOD. Anything else is copyright infringement and is punishable by law. Where did you get the idea that if you removed the copyright notice that it would be okay to use?

Answer 3

If the photo is not yours, cropping it or otherwise changing it without the owner permission is copyright infringement. Photos on flickr are not for your personal use, unless you get permission form the owner/copyright holder. Photos do not need a trademark, logo, or other notice to be copyrighted. Copyright is given to the photographer at the time the photo is taken. Contact the photographer, and see what it will take for an agreement for you to be able to use the photo.

Answer 4

Thief is thief. That's what you are doing no matter how you do it! Why not just link people to the picture? a

Answer 5

Answer 6

Give credit, or remove it ASAP. What's with the thumbs down? Like I really care what happens anyway.

Answer 7

If you rob a bank , will you get in trouble ?

Answer 8

Besides all the right reasons for NOT doing this, if the owner of the image finds it and reports you, you will be kicked out of Flickr.

Answer 9

Ooooooooo... don't do it! How would you like it if someone stole your pic and claimed it as their own? Cropping off someone's copyright is against the law... don't risk getting sued over something like this.
