Is it copyright infringement if I made a sequel of a cartoon movie using toys and post it on youtube?

I wrote a script for a sequel to already existing cartoon movie. I want to film the script with my camcorder using my son's toys (from the cartoon) and backgrounds I drew (copying places shown in the cartoon). I then want to post the video on youtube. Would I need permission from the cartoon's company for any of this? Is any of it copyright infringement?

Answer 1

i hardly think it matters unless you start making money off of it. people do it all the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx1XIm6q4r4

Answer 2

Yeah, you should probably get permission, but I doubt anyone would report it on youtube. More than likely, the company itself would have to be the one requesting the removal. If you want to get away with it though, just tweak the character names/title.
