Answer 1

If you get permission from the original author and have proof, then no. It wouldn't.

Answer 2

It can't be published. It is called fanfiction. However, nobody publishes school book reports anyway, so you really don't need to worry. It's just a writing exercise. If you want to try to get published, you will need to write a story with your own characters, anmes and settings.

Answer 3

yes of course!!!! you're stealing someone else's ideas and hard work! you won't have a fine because publishers would reject you would even be allowed to publish it as it's copying. but carry on writing the book anyway for your report and try and think of your own story and get that published. i'm sure you'll come up with something good. xx

Answer 4

What do you mean by "copy" the socs and greasers. You can't publish author's characters. Period. It's copyright infringement. In fact, you won't even find a publisher who's willing to publish your book if you're using someone else's characters. You'll be sued, not "fined." You're writing fanfiction, nothing more. You can't publish fanfiction. You can't publish anything that has someone else's characters or world they created. If you want to go into creative writing, create your own gang of characters and call them something other than the Socs and Greasers. I don't think you have anything to worry about. It's hard getting published and school-aged children don't write at the professional level needed to get published. Consider this nothing more than a fun school assignment because it won't get beyond that point. And, if you like what you've written, consider putting it on a fanfic website. BTW, no one has told you yes you can. Someone said you can IF you get permission from the author. There's no chance an author will give you that permission.
