Writing a paper, proper way to use the copyright symbol.?

I'f im writing an essay about the internet and social networking sites, when i refer to sites such at Myspace, Twitter, Facebook and such, do i need to use the copyright symbol? My english teacher says I do, but im not so sure.

in the symbols box on word will have that symbol. they have trademark symbol as well

You're not publishing the material, so no. Even if you were, you could refer to MySpace, Twitter, etc., over and over again and simply have a citation / caption at the end of your piece with the copyright information. If your teacher is asking you to, though, I would do it. It can be annoying to repeat the same thing over and over, but it's not worth risking the grade. For reference, the copyright symbol code is ALT + 0169
