how similar can the design of a site be to another site before it infringes on copyright? eg. if you look at facebooks layout, and were to copy the actual layout and design but used differenet colors and didn't have things that were website specific eg... ( facebook poking people) can you get done for copyright infringement? i.e. could i use everything in this page on my site if i changed the logos and text? thanks J

There is a scam artist asking me for a design and we will supposely "trade off" my work. Except he dont know that i know that he is a scam artist. He is asking me to design a banner for an event with business'es logos on them. Am i able to copyright that banner under my design? Ok, i designed a logo for a company and got a little lazy. I used about 20% of a grunge texture in the design through a mask. Im just curious if this is against copyright outright or should I make some changes to the design as to make it legal. The design itself is a radioactive symbol with the texture masked into the foreground logo. And no. I haven't submitted the logo itself yet.

I want to design a line of t-shirts and, obviously, try to sell them. If you liked the design of a house on a television show or movie, and you fell in love with it, would there be any copyright laws preventing you from personally hiring an architect to design it from photos of how it appears in the show or film and eventually building it? I'm thinking of start a paper airplane section on my crafts website. The issue is I'm not areodynamic engineer and would use models made by someone at some point in time (recently or in the past).
