So, my teacher said that, by law, you can only use 30 seconds of a scene from a tv show episode. My question is, what if you want to use 30 seconds from episode 1 of a show and 30 seconds of episode 20 of the same show? It's owned by the same people, sure, but it's not the exact same product. Anybody know for sure?

I am currently looming for any resource or advice on how to know or find un copyrighted material to use in my art. I love to do inspirational pieces and do not want to infringe on anyone's copyright. What are laws/rules towards using the logo of a website(like myspace, facebook, etc) to promote your profile on you website. I'm creating a website that reviews bars and restaurants and I want to use existing pictures from the website of the bars and restaurants we're reviewing. My question is, does this type of website (something like Yelp or Citysearch) fall under the commentary or criticism uses described in this law?

I understand that a fan site can use names and references, but can't copy original text or images. If I made an online game as a fan-site for a popular fiction book, without using any original text, images, or video, (only character names), and included references to the book's author and copyright holder, am I violating copyright laws or does this fall under "fair use"?
