my band director is interested in having the band perform a piece i showed him the other day. The only problem is the piece isn't published for a standard school band. I was going to arrange the piece myself. Is there any way i could do this without worrying about copyright law?

I am a novelist, and I was wondering what is considered copyright infringement? If I was to write a book about a character fighting a monster such as a zombie, werewolf, vampire, demon, etc. would places like Capcom and other places pounce on me? I’m not saying that my story would be a total rip-off but, it has concepts that appear in a lot of horror movies/books. Can you copyright things like government cover ups, secret organizations, etc. ?

If a woman/man is drawn from a particular magazine, and the only thing noticeable in similarity to the actual photo is the shape and stance, is that copyright infringement if chosen to reproduce these images for commercial use?
