i making beats and music, how do i copyright it?

For example if I own a gym that people pay a membership fee (or pay per class) and I want to have a class as part of my gym that is lead through a video that contains copyright music. I know I have been to classes at the gym where the instructors use copyright music (I don't know if that is legal either). I am not talking about selling a video, I am talking about displaying a video at a venue that charges a fee to come in.

I always see videos on youtube with music videos and videos of people with mainstream songs and they play fine. I tried to upload a video for a project with an old Buffalo Springfield "For what its worth" and it muted my whole video and said it was violation of copyright laws or something. I spent quite awhile making this video, and I used the song Wisdom, Justice, and Love by Linkin Park for the music, but it was removed due to copyright law. I was wondering if there is a way to get past this, by maybe tampering with the song just a bit to make it unrecognizable to Facebook and their copyright law or something. Please answer ASAP!
